*Popular Tour* – Bay of Islands: Nature Adventure – 4hrs
A half day in the Bay of Islands flies by fast. This 4-hour nature adventure ties together Kawiti Glow Worm Caves, old-growth forest walks, waterfalls, and Bay views, with live onboard commentary to keep the drive interesting.
I especially like the variety packed into one outing, and I also like the way it stays manageable on the legs.
Two highlights for me are the glow worm cave walk, plus the short but atmospheric Kauri forest stop with trees that can be 800+ years old. A possible drawback to plan around: it needs good weather, and the cave portion is where you will want a warm jacket.
If you like small-group tours, this one has a max of 11 people and runs from a comfortable, air-conditioned van with bottled water. I’d still call it a nature-heavy day, so if you want long beach time or a full lunch break, you may prefer a longer tour.
